PP (POLYPROPYLENE)

PP (Polypropylene) is a thermoplastic “addition polymer” made from the combination of propylene monomers. It is used in a variety of applications to include packaging for consumer products, plastic parts for various industries including the automotive industry and textiles. There are many PP major manufacturers in the world such as Chevron Phillips, Lotte, Exxon Mobil, GS Caltex, Formosa Plastics, Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC-Kuwait), Advanced Petrochemical Company (APC).

Types and Applications

PP RAFFIA GRADE (YARN)

Is used for woven bags, ropes & twines, geotextiles, carpet backing.

PP INJECTION GRADE

Is used for housewares and general supplies, pallets, cosmetic containers & caps, food containers, transparency cases, stationeries.

PP FILM GRADE

Offers excellent optical clarity and low moisture vapour transmission with uses in the packaging of sweets, snack foods, sundries and cigarettes, capacitors and other electronic films, photo and graphic art applications.

PP LAMINATION (COATING)

Lamination is one of the techniques used for laminating different materials, and is widely used as the manufacturing process for packaging films for products such as foods, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical products in order to obtain improved film properties such as gas barrier, heat sealing, and film strength.

PP BLOCK COPOLYMER

Gives high toughness and impact strength with balanced product stiffness, suitable for applications requiring high strength, such as paint buckets, industrial usages, helmets.

PP RANDOM COPOLYMER

Is used for products requiring an excellent appearance, can be used for injection molding and stretch blow molding applications.

PP FIBER GRADE

Is used in carpets, clothing and non-woven, while its combined strength and resistance has led to the replacement of sisal and jute in ropes, twine and string.

PP NON-WOVEN

Is used for vacuum bags, wet tissues, pond and canal water barrier.
